This is a cool trailer for a movie called "The Boat That Rocked" that is about a Pirate radio station called Radio Caroline that broadcasted in the UK from a converted fishing boat stationed in International Waters during the 60's & 70's. Badass movie about Pirate Radio.

This video is about Hank and Jim who were the kings of pirate radio in New York City and were busted by the FCC five times. WFAT 1620 AM Brooklyn, New York.

Equipment That We Use

Wild Hog Radio uses the following donated equipment

TRANSMITTER

We have several Transmitters that we use depending on the situation. For our maximum coverage broadcast we use the Broadcast TX50VZ Stereo Transmitter. It is 50 watts and has plenty of power for broadcasting around a small town. We use the 3rd one down from the top. They go up to 1000 watts and down to 1watt. We were generously donated with ours from a UK based company, excellent products.

We also have several smaller units that are extremely portable, easy to setup and dismantle and can broadcast at motorcycle rally's, car shows and other localized events.

ANTENNA

We use several types of antenna's depending on if we are broadcasting from an event or stationary. We prefer an old pirate radio standby called a Comet. It is reasonably priced, easy to set up, easy to tune. You can see the Model number CFM95SL 5/8 wave is a good model. This is a great little antenna and can be mounted on our truck and even our Motorcycle's sissy bar. We also have a laptop with broadcasting software, mixers and other stuff not mentioned due to privacy concerns.

MOBILITY

Most mobile units use a standard 12v system and convertors for all setups. These are easily concealable in saddle bags with a stored power supply. This enables us to broadcast live at an event from a self contained motorcycle base unit.

SETUP TIMES

We train all our DJ's with hands on setup and operation procedures to ensure time restraints are met in case they have to bug out quickly. We have done an extremely large amount of custom fabrication on mounting and concealment of our equipment. We use readily available connectors that can purchased at most Radio Shacks across the country.

Our mobile Radio Station can be setup and broken down in under 7 minutes. Well there ya go, a quick and short lists of what we use.
